Admissions

Step 1: Initial Contact

The admissions process usually begins when an individual, family member, or referral source contacts the treatment center by phone or online inquiry. This initial contact is confidential and provides an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about available services.

Step 2: Intake Screening

During the initial conversation, admissions staff typically complete a brief intake screening. This screening helps determine whether residential treatment is appropriate and may include general questions about:

  • Substance use history
  • Current substance use
  • Physical and mental health concerns
  • Living situation and safety
  • Prior treatment experiences

The purpose of this step is to identify the most appropriate level of care.

Step 3: Clinical Assessment

If residential treatment appears appropriate, a more detailed clinical assessment is conducted by qualified staff. This assessment evaluates treatment needs and helps confirm medical or clinical necessity for residential care.

The assessment may review:

  • Severity of substance use disorder
  • Medical history and current health status
  • Mental health and co‑occurring conditions
  • Risk factors such as relapse or unsafe living environments

Step 4: Insurance and Financial Review

After clinical eligibility is established, the admissions team typically reviews insurance coverage or payment options. This step may include verifying benefits, explaining covered services, and discussing any potential out‑of‑pocket costs or alternative payment arrangements.

Step 5: Admission Decision and Scheduling

Once screening, assessment, and financial review are complete, the treatment center determines whether admission can proceed. If accepted, an admission date is scheduled based on program availability and individual readiness.

Admissions staff provide guidance on arrival time, what to bring, and what to expect during the first days of treatment.

Step 6: Intake and Orientation

On the day of admission, individuals complete intake paperwork and receive an orientation to the facility. This typically includes reviewing program guidelines, expectations, and daily structure. After intake is complete, the individual officially begins residential treatment.
